Elementary Japanese

It was so much fun reading everyone's post last week!  Today I decided to share one of my favorite artists since 2019! I first heard of them when they produced (wrote and sang) all the songs for the anime Given!  Hearing them sing in the show (and later the movies) just hooked me from the beginning. I was absolutely obsessed with 冬のはなし(Winter's Story) from the moment I heard it, that I even went out of my way to write lyrics in Japanese, it's romanization and later it's translation (it's how I used to know how to say the seasons in Japanese, and winter-related words). I even tried to find the meaning for each of the words (￣▽￣). I then became obsessed with the song released in the movie, such as  夜が明ける (Dawn Will Break), going through the same process with that one.  Of course that meant I had to follow the person who wrote them. And event thought I didn't go through the same process as I did with the first two songs, I still loved the rest of Atsushi's work...

 Your Divorce Is Served! (2025), おいしい離婚届けます  My instagram actually pushed clips from this series to me ( ´▽｀). I found these clips really funny, and so I tried my best to find the first episode. From what I can tell so far the series is focused on a couple, a divorce lawyer and private investigator, as they go about their daily lives while doing their best to win their clients cases. I was able to catch a few of the phrases we learned in class (such as おはよう、ただいま).  I left off with their current client's (a housewife influencer, who was cheated on)  husband catching the private investigator (under disguise) who he suspects has been following him and his affair partner. We also find out that said affair partner has a bunch of charms, including a straw doll (which is commonly used in cursing other people).  ^this isn't the doll from the drama (the image is actually from Hell Girl 地獄少女, which was one of the first Japanese shows I've ever watched) but an example of w...

こんにちは! My name is Brisny and I am a 5th year studying Computer Science, History and Chinese. I've been a big fan of the Pokemon franchise since I was a kid, having played all of the games from Soul Silver and up! One of the reasons why I wanted to learn Japanese was because of this interest, but also because of my interest in J-Pop, with one of my favorites being Centimillimental (センチミリメンタル). I also really like watching Japanese films/anime (my favorite being Candy Candy キャンディ・キャンディ) and reading manga which may have also influenced this choice (￣▽￣).  I thought this would be a good time as any to learn, being my last year.
